Serious Lenci doll collectors check the listing on eBay regularily and if they see a doll of interest they will add it to their watch list. The best dolls usually get several bids unless the asking price is too high. Those bidders that know the value of the item are usually prepared to bid up to the perceived value of the doll but may not bid until the final hours of the auction. Near mint condition Lenci dolls are pretty rare so expect to see high prices. If you see a doll you want, try to be objective as possible so as not to get caught up in a bidding competition, this is more easily avoided if you have done your homework and have a good idea of the value.
Remember also that sellers of Lenci dolls on eBay are not all experts, many sellers use the term "lenci doll" in a broad sense to mean a vintage cloth doll with side glancing eyes, this is a legacy from the years that Lenci set the standard for cloth dolls.
In any case do your due dilligence. My advice is to go for the best condition Lenci doll that fits your budget as the value will hold.
